I didn't get to go to any of the shows last fall, and missed Belton due to family commitments. Not looking so good for HamCom either. Probably the next show will be Summerfest in August. This depends on whether our newest grandchild sticks to his/her arrival prediction.

I have been busy trying to work the kinks out of a way to produce completed IsoCats for sale, but not having a lot of success in keeping it economical and efficient. I am nearing completion on several units for the next show, however.

I also have a new product in the wings and hope to have it ready for sale by the next show. This one won't be a kit, however, as it is all surface mount. I'll build the first batch myself. After that, I am looking at turnkey production houses to get reasonable quantity and keep costs down. More on this exciting new accessory later.

I have also updated the website to make it easier to manage and to prepare it for growth. As I add projects, the website needs to grow with them. I am also considering setting up an interactive area where builders can exchange ideas and submit questions.

Summerfest in Austin was a very good show this year. I sold several of the IsoCat kits, and handed out quite a few cards to interested folks. So far, no inquiries but I'm hoping to hear from some of those that took information home.

No more scheduled hamfests this month, but I may make Belton in the fall if time permits. Had a major computer crash on the laptop and am just getting that back up to speed. I also got Ubuntu loaded on the big desktop (finally) with dual monitors working. Took a bit of creative editing of some of the files, but both Linux and XP are on the same machine with all features working in both. Based on what I learned with that effort, the laptop is next!

I'll may be in Brenham in October, and we may go to Corpus this fall. Ham-A-Rama is probably not gonna happen this year, though. Maybe next year. By then, I should be flying again and that would make it a much more practical trip.

With all that has been going on this summer, work on the latest project has been slower than I wanted it to be. We're taking a short vacation later this year, so maybe I'll be able to finish up the last few bits and get it ready to go to the board shop when I get back.

What is it, you ask. Check back - it is mostly surface mount, is based on previous projects, and will probably be offered as a completed unit. Oh, yea - if you have Icom or Yaesu radios, you probably need one!

June was another active month. I did better at HamCom than I thought, but none of the IsoCats went to new homes. Sold several charger kits, and a few other items including the spare IC703.

I'm building some IsoCats for Summerfest and to offer again on the web. Several expressed interest in the project, but not in building one. I hope to have at least five or six ready in time, along with the cable kits. I'm planning to build cables for Yaesu and ICOM for now.

We did find time to get away to the hill country for a couple of days of R&R. We stayed in a cabin outside Wimberley and just relaxed and enjoyed the scenery.

In July, I'm going to the Texas City hamfest. I will probably have only one or two completed IsoCats, but plenty of kits and of course the battery charger kits.

The Texas City Hamfest was rewarding, though not too profitable. I spent more than I took in, but picked up a few items I needed. I bought a roll of RG-58 to build some antennas with, as well as an antenna tuner to go with the IC-7000 in the mobile. Still looking for the perfect mobile antenna...

I used the free time this month to put up a few more IsoCat kits, as well as build one for sale. I'm planning on having a few built by the end of summer. Check back, I'll announce availability as soon as I get them built and tested.

I worked up a schematic to use the IsoCat with Yaesu (-817, -857, -897) transceivers. It is posted on the website, but as I don't have a Yaesu to test with, it is 'beta test' until I get confirmation that it works as planned.

A new project is on the drawing board. I should have prototypes running by the end of September and if all goes well, product should be available for shipment by mid-November.

We're heading to Austin on August 3 and 4. Hope to see you there.

Busy month. I am packaging kits for HamCom in Plano next month. I'm also working on a couple of new projects that I hope to have available by the end of the year.

Thanks to input from Mark, K5LXP and others, there are some new templates and some updated information to assist with assembly.  Be sure to visit the IsoCat page for the most recent information.
